Non-Profit Community Sailing Organization
CYC Junior Division is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Program whose mission is to instill a lifelong love of sailing in a fun, safe and educational environment. Our programs include youth ages 4-18 and adult sailors of all abilities.
WHO WE ARE
Here at CYC Junior Division, we are devoted to spreading the love of sailing. Crescent Yacht Club Junior Division, Inc. is a non-profit sailing instruction program. “Junior Division” was originally established in the 1930s as a program to educate youth in the sport of sailing at the Crescent Yacht Club. Since this time, Junior Division has run a summer day “camp” for youth between the ages of 7 and 16. In 1986, CYC Junior Division, Inc. was formed as a non-profit. Over the past several years we have been working to become a Community Sailing Center through US Sailing, expanding the program to include young sailors starting at the age of 4 and offering adult sailing lessons and sailing programs for families. The new facilities were completed for the 2020 Season with the help of the NNY Community Foundation and generous donations through our Endowment Fund.
WHAT WE DO
Junior Division runs continuous instruction from late June through mid-August.
Day Program Participants may register for a full Summer (7 weeks) or One Session (1/2 summer programs).
The “juniors” (7-11 years old) come 9 am – 4 pm Mondays and Tuesdays, the “seniors” (12-16 years old) attend on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The two groups will have 1 BONUS FUN Friday per session (look for specific dates on the calendar and registration page)!
Additionally, Adult Sailing is offered on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday Evenings, Race Team does clinics on Wednesday and Friday evenings, and our youngest sailors participate on Saturday mornings in PBJ!
